Accreditation of the national reference laboratory in immunodirected infections and viral hepatitis in Measles and Rubella for the year 2026

The national reference laboratory in immunodirected infections and viral hepatitis obtained accreditation for the year 2026 in the field of laboratory diagnosis of Measles and Rubella, according to the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The accreditation confirms the maintenance of technical competence and the quality of laboratory services, demonstrating that the laboratory meets international requirements regarding the accuracy and reliability of the tests performed. The evaluation was carried out within the External Quality Assessment Program (EQAP) coordinated with the World Health Organization, and the results obtained reconfirmed the laboratory's ability to perform high-quality serological and molecular investigations for the detection of measles and rubella.

Through this recognition, the National Reference Laboratory in Immunodeficiency and Infections hepatitis strengthens its essential role in the surveillance, control and elimination of Measles and Rubella in the Republic of Moldova, contributing to the achievement of the objectives set by the World Health Organization for the European region.

This accreditation is part of the WHO regional initiative for the elimination of measles and rubella in the European region by 2030, with the Republic of Moldova being an active part of Global Measles and Rubella Reference Laboratory Network (GMRLN).
