Laboratory specialists of ANSP have been internationally certified in sequencing the genomes of Escherichia, Vibrio and Salmonella bacteria

Specialists of the National Reference Laboratory in Genomic Sequencing of the National Agency for Public Health obtained international PulseNet certification for sequencing the genomes of Escherichia, Vibrio and Salmonella bacteria.

The certification process included the sequencing of reference samples, followed by bioinformatics analysis, both stages being rigorously evaluated by experts from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, USA) and the international network PulseNet. The results obtained confirmed the accuracy, quality and reproducibility of the analyzes carried out in our laboratory, demonstrating compliance with international standards of excellence. This certification represents a major stage in the development of the capacities of the Republic of Moldova in the field of genomic sequencing and the surveillance of communicable diseases, marking a significant progress towards full integration into the PulseNet international community.

By being included in this global network, the laboratory will contribute more effectively to:

• the rapid and precise identification of pathogens of interest to public health;
• monitoring outbreaks and the spread of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria;
• exchanging genomic data and expertise with reference laboratories around the world;
• strengthening the country's ability to respond promptly to public health threats.
